Hope you all had a great Easter and bank holiday break, the weather has been gorgeous. I decided that instead of chocolate I was going to treat myself to yet more makeup and with some BRAND NEW releases from Charlotte Tilbury how could I resist? So it definitely was a Happy Easter to me with Charlotte Tilbury gifts galore.
The first item I need to tell you about are the BRAND NEW Glowgasm Face Palette’s, if you’ve read my other posts you will know by now that I can not possibly chose one, I have to have both.
So I’d like to welcome Lightgasm and Lovegasm to my collection.
Both these palettes contain a Highlight, Multi-glow, Pop blush and bronze shade.
Before you even open the palette….WOW…the beautiful signature rose gold packaging this time complimented with a dreamy pastel design on the top, the sturdy case opens up to reveal a full size mirror in the lid and 4 of the most beautiful products I’ve ever seen.
Firstly let’s look at Lightgasm, this contains a beautiful light champagne highlight, a rose gold multi-glow, a pinky gold pop blush and a light- medium bronze shade.
Now let’s look at Lovegasm, this contains a beautiful yellow gold highlight, a much more intese rose gold almost copper multi-glow, a rose gold pop blush and a more medium-dark bronze shade
These are both beautiful palette’s and retail for £60 each. I must admit I was slightly suprised how much smaller the compacts were when they arrived than I had envisaged but I think they are so beautiful and well made, how can you resist?
Next let’s take a look at what else I ordered, first up are these Eyes To Mesmerise cream eyeshadows. I already own the shade Jean which is a gorgeous pearl shade, so I have added (L-R) Marie Antoinette, a beautiful taupe, Rose Gold, which is exactly as the name and Bette, a more true gold – RRP £22 . (swatches at the end of post)
Now onto lips, I own a wide range of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks and also 2 of the glosses so I thought I would expand my collection with 3 of the Latex Love glosses and 4 of the Hollywood Lips.
The Hollywood Lips are a creamy yet matte lip colour, they offer a great coverage and feel soft on the lips, for those that prefer a matte look. I got the shades (L-R) Showgirl, Too bad I’m bad, Best Actress and Charlotte Darling – RRP £24 . (swatches at the end of post)
These limited edition Latex Love glosses also caught my eye, these pigmented high shine lip glosses pack quite a punch – RRP £24. I got the shades (L-R) Belle Du Soir, Cannes Tropez and Dirty Dancer. (swatches at the end of post)
Here are swatches of the Eyes To Mesmerise cream shadows, Hollywood Lips and Latex Love glosses.
Hope you enjoyed this post, if you have any questions feel free to comment below.
When I posted this makeup look on social media a few ago I was inundated with comments, messages and questions. So I thought I would do a GET THE LOOK MOTHER OF THE BRIDE.
This mother of the bride was used to wearing makeup but wanted to just look a better version of herself. Her stunning dress was light pink so she didn’t want anything too dark but wanted her eyes to stand out and prefered a brighter cheek and lip.
Skin – The client’s skin was prepped with Garnier Micellar water to ensure a clean fresh base then Clinique Moisture Surge was applied to the skin for ultimate hydration.
Foundation & Concealer – Estee Lauder doublewear was used to cover the freckles and even out the client’s skin and Nars Radiant creamy concealer was used to provide a little more coverage and brighten the undereye.
Brows – Anastasia brow powder was used to softly enhance the brows and clear brow gel to keep them in place.
Eyes – Soft Ochre paintpot by MAC was used to create a canvas for the shadows and even out any discolouration. The Urdan decay heat palette was used to create a matte bright and warm soft smoke on the eyes. A coat of mascara and some Eldora lashes were used to enhance the lashes and a thin application of Illamasqua gel liner was applied on top to further define the eyes.
Cheeks – Definition was given to the face using Charlotte Tilbury Bronze and Glow and a pop of colour was added to the cheeks using MAC Fleur Power.
Lips – Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk liner was used to create a natural fuller line to the lips and Coachella Coral lipstick for a beautiful hydrated pop of colour.

I’m pretty new to the Hourglass cosmetics range, I’ve heard some good reviews and the products and packaging are so appealing, however they are definitely on the higher end of the price range, so I decided to see if they were worth the splurge.
The first product I tried was an Ambient lighting powder, I was advised to use the shade Radiant Light by one of the sales advisors.
I was very impressed with the powder and decided I wanted to try it in a different shade, that may be better suited to my skin tone as I was heading towards winter and my summer glow was fading fast, however this wasn’t the only item in my shopping bag and I ended up with quite a selection.
Let’s look at what I got:
AMBIENT LIGHTING POWDER
What Hourglass say : “Powders mimic six universally flattering light sources, from morning light to candlelight, allowing clients to build a wardrobe of options-not unlike having a personal lighting technician at your disposal. By manipulating and filtering out harsh light, powders conceal skin imperfections, pores and wrinkles. State-of-the-art formula delivers a multi-dimensional luminescence to every skin tone, making it appear softer, younger and perfectly lit. Universal powders make them suitable for every skin tone, while each can be worn day and night. The finishing powders enhance skin in any type of light, including flash photography.”
Shade & Finish: Available in 6 shades: • ETHEREAL LIGHT: An opalescent sheer, cool white powder that mimics a moonlit glow—even in broad daylight. • DIFFUSED LIGHT: A soft, warm, pale yellow powder that conceals redness and gives skin clarity—like a soft ray of morning light. • DIM LIGHT: A neutral peach beige powder that blurs imperfections and highlights a radiant complexion with the perfect balance of warm and cool tones. • MOOD LIGHT: A soft, sheer lavender pink powder that mimics the softest, most forgiving light and brightens the complexion. • LUMINOUS LIGHT: A champagne pearl powder that creates a soft, incandescent candlelit glow—day or night. • RADIANT LIGHT: A sun-kissed golden beige that enhances overall complexion with believable, subtle warmth, and also extends a summer glow
As I mentioned earlier I was first advised the colour Radiant Light, I then went on to purchase Diffused Light and Luminous Light.
Packaging: Sleek, bronze coloured, robust packaging with a mirror inside this looks and feels every bit of the high end, luxury product that it is designed to be.
Overall: On my own face I’m not a huge powder fan for setting my base as my skin is very dehydrated and I feel powder just adds years to me, that is also the case for some of my more mature clients…. that was until I tried this
The ambient light powders are super finely milled and aren’t dry or chalky at all infact they create a lovely soft glow, they are in no means glittery or a highlighter they are designed to create a healthy lustre to the skin, more of a ‘lit from within’ glow.
ILLUME SHEER COLOUR TRIO – SUNSET
What Hourglass say: “Give your face a luminous wash of color using this luxe creme-to-satin finish palette featuring bronzer, blush and highlighter. This versatile trio provides everything you need for sheer definition and color. Formulated to seemingly melt into your skin, it gives your complexion an incredibly natural and radiant finish. The palette now includes all three products in a sleek signature Hourglass compact”
Packaging: Sleek, bronze coloured, robust packaging with a good sized mirror inside this looks and feels every bit of the high end, luxury product that it is designed to be. So handy having the 3 products in 1 a great time saver for in the morning and perfect for on the go touch up’s and travel.
Shade & Finish: As you can see from the swatches above, the formula has a good pigment and can be built up, the texture is such an easy blend cream formula that you can also wear it quite sheer too. All 3 are definitely on the warmer side, which is great for me as I prefer those tones.
Overall: I’m not a big lover of cream finishes as a rule, however for it’s blendability and quick and easy application it’s such a handy product and I can see me reaching for this. I do think it’s on the pricey side as it would be more of a “on the school run” “off to the gym” quick and easy product for me, however it is beautifully packaged, a lovely formula and has a real high end feel.
AMBIENT LIGHTING EDIT – UNLOCKED
Please note these palettes are limited edition and I believe this is out of stock.
What Hourglass say: “Introducing the next generation of the coveted Ambient® Lighting Edit. The Unlocked edition features 6 new exclusive shades of powder, bronzer, blush and metallic strobe powder. This 100% vegan palette features the Hourglass symbol representing our commitment to being a cruelty free brand. A portion of profits from this palette will go to support the Nonhuman Rights Project – the only civil rights organization in the United States working to secure legally recognized fundamental rights for nonhuman animals. All six powders are formulated with pure Photoluminscent Technology to capture, diffuse and soften surrounding light for skin that appears softer, younger and lit from within.”
Packaging: Sleek, gold, robust packaging with a great sized mirror inside. With all 6 powders inside this is perfect for on the go.
All the shades are well pigmented and wearable, each providing that luxurious lit from within glow that Hourglass is renowned for.
Overall: I love this palette all the colours are beautiful and extremley pigmented, yet blendable a great edition to my kit.
AMBIENT LIGHTING BRONZER
What Hourglass say: Ambient™ Lighting Bronzer fuses the illuminating effects of Ambient® Lighting Powder with bronze pigments to add depth and dimension for a natural, sun-kissed glow. The sheer, airy formula sweeps on softly for a healthy-looking, radiant finish.
Packaging: Sleek, gold coloured, robust packaging with a mirror inside this looks and feels every bit of the high end, luxury product that it is designed to be.
Shade & Finish: Comes in 4 shades, I have Nude bronze light and Luminous bronze light. • LUMINOUS BRONZE LIGHT – a medium tan shade fused with Luminous Light, a champagne pearl powder, for a softer, candlelit warmth. Ideal for fair/light complexions. • RADIANT BRONZE LIGHT – a warm bronze shade fused with Radiant Light, a golden beige powder, to mimic a summer glow. Ideal for medium/deep complexions. • DIFFUSED BRONZE LIGHT [NEW] – a cool bronze shade fused with Diffused Light, a soft, pale yellow powder, to mimic a ray of warm sunlight. Ideal for light/medium complexions. • NUDE BRONZE LIGHT [NEW] – a neutral bronze shade fused with Nude Light, a soft, translucent powder, to mimic a subtle warmth. Ideal for light/medium complexions
Overall: I really like these bronzers they are builable yet subtle, lovely for bridal to give a soft bronzed look without looking too contoured.
VEIL – MINERAL PRIMER – OIL FREE
What Hourglass say: “Elevate your foundation to unprecedented performance with this state-of-the-art primer that extends the wear of foundation for a perfect complexion that lasts. With a texture unlike any other, this oil free primer not only creates a smooth, even canvas for makeup, but also conceals redness, minimizes the appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles, and provides broad spectrum SPF 15 protection, all in a supremely airy, silky, cloud-like texture.”
Packaging: Luxurious, sleek frosted glass bottle with the classic Hourglass bronze shiny lid and pump.
Texture & Finish: I was suprised when I first tried this product at how fluid and almost watery the texture is but it feels absolutely beautiful on the skin. It goes on a cloudy milky, white colour and quickly changes to the most beautiful velvet texture.
Overall: This award winning product is an absolutely beautiful primer which I do feel adds longevity to a makeup application.
So the most important question, Is Hourglass worth the splurge?
Obviously I’m more than aware that the prices are quite high and for some people are well and truly out of budget.
Are they a necessity to your everyday makeup? Maybe not
Are there cheaper more affordable products that are similar? Maybe yes
Do they feel and perform like a high end, luxurious product? Absolutely!
I do love a luxury treat myself and of course I want the very best in high end luxury for my beautiful brides so I am happy with all my purchases.
And hey if they aren’t in your budget and you still want a treat, get one on your birthday or Christmas list!
Have you tried any Hourglass products? Do you have any on your wishlist?
Many things influence our decision to purchase a particular cosmetic product from the array of selection we are faced with, however how many of those items do you actually use up and would you repurchase?
Entering shops such as Boots, Selfridges, Debenhams and even more so online, we are greeted with a very wide selection of choice when it comes to cosmetics.
I’m sure I’m not alone in the amount of bags, boxes and even cupboards stuffed with cosmetics that I seem to have accumulated over time.
What makes you choose a product? For me it can be a whole host of reasons from recommendation, special offers (I’m a sucker for a GWP), what it claims to acheive and….dare I say it packaging! The amount of items I have bought because of the logo or the fact that it’s pink or gold or that it’s just insta worthy, it’s ridiculous (bet I’m not alone though).
I am actually a nightmare for buying something new that isn’t really required and starting to use it before finishing my current product, which quickly escalates to bags and boxes of half used products.
As I entered 2019 I tried to consciously finish a product and discard the packaging before buying something similar, or at least before opening something new.
My professional kit is a different matter I have selected items, probably about half my kit that I use on almost every job and all those items I would and do replace before they run out, that still leaves half of my kit that is purely there just so I can be prepared for lots of skin types/colours and offer a range of looks.
By clinging on to half empty cosmetics we are just being wasteful and potentially allowing a breeding ground for bacteria, as once opened some products should really be used within months.
So when we wade through the mountain of products how many of them have we used and loved so much that we would repurchase?
For this post though I want to focus on my personal beauty items that I use on myself, if you would like me to do a post on my kit favourites please comment below.
When I decided to write about this topic and actually gave it some thought I was really surprised how few items there actually are.
I love skincare and love trying out new products however I have wasted a lot of money trying things that don’t agree with my skin or I just don’t like so now I try to keep my staple things that I know work for me.
Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover – A definite multiple repuchase for me. This product I love, it is super affordable and does the job. I wear waterproof mascara so need something super effective to remove all traces without endless rubbing. I also use this all over my face as a first step cleanse to breakdown my foundation, as its more affordable than the cleansers I use it means I am using less of my more expensive cleansers to remove my makeup.
Garnier Micellar water – Another multiple repurchase, I use this both personally and professionally. I have tried other micellar waters and always seem to go back to this one. I don’t use it to remove my makeup but I always use it in a morning to wipe over my skin before I apply my morning skincare.
La Roche Posay Hydraphase Intensive – This is another product I love and again I’ve tried other products that claim to be similar but this is my personal preference. Read more about this product in my post Hydration Helpers
Paula’s Choice Retinol – I have only ever used over the counter Retinol and have tried a few brands and in my opinion this is by far the best. It’s not cheap, but it works and I have and will continue to repurchase this
These are the skincare items I have repurchased so far, I am currently using a few more items that I’m sure I will repurchase once they are finished, so I will keep you posted in a Part 2.
On to Make-up:
Estee Lauder Doublewear – I’m sure I mention this product in every post…I should have shares in it I buy that much! I have tried soooooooo many foundations and ALWAYS come back to this one. It’s purely the longevity of this product for me, I don’t need to powder, it doesn’t transfer and it last’s all day.
Nars Creamy Concealer – There was a Dior concealer that I loved however they annoyingly discontinued it. I’m not sure it’s a Holy Grail product on myself but I have tried a LOT of concealers and for me this one is always my preferred choice.
L’Oreal False Lash Architect waterproof mascara – I have tried a LOT of mascaras and there are a few I have repurchased in the past. I was using both the Diorshow waterproof mascara and Charlotte Tilbury Legendary lashes volume 2 and I do love them both, however once I tried this I was hooked, the performance is amazing and it’s just more affordable.
Mascara is definitely something you don’t want to be hanging on to unnecessarily, it is advised you only keep a mascara for 3 months once opened.
Those are the only repurchase items that I won’t deviate from, I tend to swap about with my other items and try something new once the item I’m using has run out.
How many items would you repurchase? Please feel free to share some of your favourites below
Time is precious, especially in a morning, whether you are juggling the school run and work or just want a few extra minutes in bed, here are my 5 makeup tips to save time in the morning.
Ok so this isn’t makeup but it WILL save you time in the morning in regards to your makeup routine.
As I keep mentioning, the better the base the better your makeup will look and the less products you will need to apply, thus saving you time in a morning.
So invest time in the evening, at your leisure and step up your skincare routine with active ingredients that will help treat any skin issues and allow you to wake with a fresher, clearer, smoother skin rather, than spending your time concealing .
Tint eyebrows and eyelashes
Many people wear mascara and also fill in their eyebrows of some description so getting them tinted can either cut out the step completely or provide you with a good base for you to quickly enhance.
You are always better to visit a professional beauty salon and take precautions by doing a skin test first to prevent any reactions. I am a qualified beauty therapist so I tint my own brows at home every couple of weeks and this saves me so much time (and product) in a morning.
Even if you don’t need coverage, many people will wear either a CC or BB cream or some kind of bronzing product to give them a bit of colour, adding tanning drops into your moisturiser at night will allow you to awaken with a golden glow.
Seperate makeup bag
Precious seconds and even minutes can be lost by rumaging around looking for the items you need, so I tend to segregate my daily makeup into a seperate makeup bag or storage box, to make it easier and have the products and brushes I need to hand.
Multi use products
Using one product for a few jobs can not only save money but also time, using your bronzer as an eyeshadow, your brow colour as an eyeliner or your cream cheek colour on your lips will also help speed up the process.
I hope you find these tips useful and it saves you time to spend how you like, with a coffee, with the kids or…with your eyes closed in bed, after all getting sleep is important, it will mean less concealer in the morning!
