GREAT NORTHERN WEDDING VENUE MAGAZINE SHOOT

I was so excited to be contacted by the Great Northern Wedding Venue Magazine and asked to collaborate on a shoot they were doing for an upcoming edition of the magazine.

The venue

The shoot took place at Bashall Barn in Clitheroe. It was my first time visiting Bashall (I do have weddings booked there in the future) and as I walked through each part of the venue I must have said “wow look at this” “omg how adorable” at least 10 times….then when I entered the main room my mouth hit the floor it was absolutely breathtaking, so spacious, light and white… right up my street.

As the sun made an appearance the whole side of the room was made up of glass doors which pulled back to reveal the most amazing balcony looking out over the countryside, I was absolutely blown away.

The look

Legend Bridal had handmade a bespoke dress especially for the shoot, their style is quite alternative and it was so lovely to be creative with this look. The dress was quite a deep ivory and lace, with a fitted bodice and shoe string straps, then a full layered handkerchief style skirt and a bronze fabric belt with flowers to add detail.

The model Ebony had the most gorgeous natural curly hair so it was braided across the front by hairdresser Zoe and tonged slightly to give the curls definition, Legend statement antlers and flowers were added to complete the look.

The theme and colours for the shoot were very autumnal, oranges, reds, browns and purples so for the makeup I got to use my new favourite palette, Heat by Urban Decay. I wanted to add colour and make the look striking whilst still keeping it “bridal” and not wanting the makeup to overpower the whole look.

Base

Ebony had great skin so I mixed Nars sheer glow with Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow to give it a sheer skin like texture. I added warmth and dimension with Mac mineralise skin finish and a pop of colour on the cheeks with Mac extra dimension blush.

Iconic liquid highlight and Mac soft and gentle were used to add a soft radiance to the skin.

Eyes

On the eyes I used Peaches and Cream pigment all over the lid and the heat palette to add colour and depth to the crease and define the upper and lower lash line. Lashes from Eldora really opened up the eye and finished the look off.

Lips

I started off with a softer lip using Nude by Bobbi Brown but then decided we needed to add a little more drama and changed it to Crushed plum also by Bobbi Brown.

Finishing touches

The most AMAZING autumnal setting was created by Skelmersdale flower centre who dressed the tables beautifully using candles, flowers, leaves, tiny pumpkins and bits of sparkle (we know I love a bit of sparkle). Polka pops also created a wonderful cake ball masterpiece for us to display.
