MY STORE EXPERIENCE
I went to a local YSL counter and asked the consultant to match my colour, she asked whether I prefer a yellow, pink or neutral cast to my foundation I explained that it depended on the foundation some are too yellow so I opt for the neutral….but definitely NOT pink. She tried a neutral and a yellow and I went for the yellow, my shade is BD50 warm honey.
The BR shades are pink tones, B are neutral and BD are yellow toned.
The consultant explained that they do oxidize on the skin, which I thought they would as I find the YSL Touche eclat foundation does the same.
I was happy with the colour match so bought the foundation and she also advised the All Hours Primer which I also purchased.
MY FOUNDATION REQUIREMENTS
I’m always on the hunt for new foundations, I’ve tried sooooo many and whilst some are better than others nothing makes me want to repurchase and be loyal to it like Estee Lauder Doublewear.
I like my foundation to disguise the pigmentation on the sides of my face, but not feel too heavy on my skin, I HATE it when foundation transfers on to my hand, my phone… anything. I don’t like to wear powder as I like my foundation to set and I don’t really mind going shiny through the day. I am 37 and very conscious when products crease around my eyes and mouth.
So this foundation has its work cut out.
Even though I bought the primer I wanted to test the longevity of the foundation so applied it without primer and without any radiance boosting products.
The packaging is a chic frosted glass bottle with black lid and writing and a gold YSL logo….there’s a pump yaye!, this is a massive bonus to me as its the one thing I dislike about Doublewear.
I applied it with my usual real techniques buffing brush, I like to apply a thin layer and buff it into my skin and then stipple over the areas I need more coverage, where my pigmentation is and sides of my nose.
It has a feint YSL smell, but nothing as strong as the Touche eclat foundation, so that’s good, I used two pumps to cover my face, I was happy with the coverage, my pigmentation can always be slightly seen but that doesn’t bother me, I could have layered up for more coverage.
I left the foundation to see what finish it gave and after a few minutes it left me with a beautiful satin matte finish which looked amazing.
I didn’t want to use any powder to see how the foundation wore, so I applied my usual makeup and observed closely throughout the day.
It does oxidize on the skin a little so just be aware when choosing a shade, I went slightly shiny throughout the day as I usually do (but had no primer or powder) I didn’t notice it transfer on anything and it lasted really well. It didn’t seem to crease around my mouth or around my eyes, it felt beautiful and light on my skin.
This is definitely staying in my makeup bag and once I have given it a thorough testing I can see it making it into my professional kit too.
