When I think of bloggers I picture some uber stylish person, parading round a cool city, doing photoshoots in the street and talking to their camera (yes I know that’s vlogging)
As blogging is definitely more of a huge deal in London lots of the events and get togethers are often down there, so when I came across BlogOn a blogging conference based in the Northwest I thought…YAYE!
I am so new to blogging and feel like I am just finding my feet and fumbling along…..and as my teenage daughter pointed out why would I go to a blogger event? I’m hardly Zoella (complete with eye rolls!)…which left me wondering did I even “qualify” to attend such an event?
The definition of a blogger is someone who regularly writes material for a blog, therefore it turns out… I am a blogger!
So I messaged for details and got myself booked on.
However as someone that suffers with anxiety, is quite reserved in social situations and very out my comfort zone with all the networking malarky, the closer it got to the event the more I started to panic.
All the panic was totally not necessary, we were added to a group on facebook for those attending the event and were able to form some online friendships with other attendees.
A couple of us went one step further and actually decided to meet up outside and go into the event together, as it wasn’t only me that was feeling nervous and unsure.
Everyone was so lovely, friendly, chatty and helpful, whatever your genre of blogging and your level of expertise you felt like you fit in there.
So what is BlogOn?
BlogOn is a conference held in Manchester for bloggers from all across the UK covering all the genres blogging can bring to this world. It is run for bloggers by bloggers, covering everything from photography to tech and creating content to brand relationships. We are lucky enough to have many amazing brands attend the events, offering a great opportunity to introduce bloggers to brands and visa versa. Then there’s the goody bags… the now famous, large suitcase filling, goody bags that just get better every year!
It was held at Hotel Football in Manchester, I wasn’t really sure what to expect but hey I’ll try (almost) anything once!
It was also a rare sunny day here in the UK so there were also seats by the canal and a free Pimms bar…winner!
There were different sessions running throughout the day which you could attend depending on what was more relevent to you, there was no pressure to attend all the sessions and there was a brand den, where lots of brands came to show us new upcoming products and share details of possibly working with them.
The sessions I did attend were AMAZING the speakers were so knowledgable, encouraging and friendly, you are sure to come away motivated and excited.
The brands and goodies we received were mainly centered around parenting and family bloggers (which was stated before I booked) but with 4 kids at home myself my goody bag (below) was well and truly raided as soon as I walked through the door.
For anyone who is into blogging I would highly recommend paying BlogOn a visit!
